This picture is of a square in Fresno, and I'll come upon the date somewhere. This was part of a series I did for the California State Chamber of Commerce magazine. The editors thought we should do typical things of cities, so we tried Fresno. Apparently it didn't go too well because I think it was the only city we did. Fresno at that time had sort of an open air market in the central park. About the similarities of Fresno and Tijuana. In Tijuana we had stones thrown at us by chauvinistic Mexicans who thought we in some respect were photographing to downgrade the citizens. In Fresno I had vituperation hurled at me in the open air market by a man who was selling some kind of patent medicine who apparently thought I was going to report him to the Board of Health. So violence exists everywhere and can be easily stirred up which many photographers to their peril and sometimes pain, have discovered,
