Envelope reads "U.C. building. South Hall. Yearbook 1913." Negative shows the exterior of the building with ivy clinging to the walls and shrubery surrounding the building. Both North and South Halls were built in the Mansard style which contains tall top story windows, bullseye windows and iron cresting on the roof. The architect was David Farquharson who was the University's first official architect. North Hall was demolished as a fire hazard in 1931.Handwritten on the back of the photo, "Davie's Ferry 'Elvira'." Photo shows a steam-powered, ferry boat in the middle of the picture. It's decks are crowded with people. Other tall-masted ships are docked in the background.
