Batea", wooden prospecting pan. Purchased in Jackson, Amador Co. in 1911. (Ray Hillman, 4/97) Numerous sheet metal repairs, some of which could be the sort of copper sheathing used on sailing ship hulls. One crack through the center has been caulked, possibly with oakum or cotton string. The batea has a handle to one side.
