History of Roosevelt Middle School (P.Lau, 8/2002) The Roosevelt Middle School, located at Nineteenth Avenue and East Ninth Street, was built in the 1920s, and was organized as a junior- senior high school in 1924. The school was proposed by Irvin D.Martin, first principle of Intermediate School No. 1.The school was later named in honor of Theodore Roosevelt.
