The Tribune photo, dated July 1, 1937, has the following caption on the back: "This Camporee became memorable when the boys ---2000-strong---gathered in front of of the Lakeshore Park grandstand to hear the news that 686 acres in the Livermore Hills have beden given to the Boy Scout Council for a wilderness camp; a gift of theEast Bay Auto Mechanics Lodge. The surpirse announcement came in the midst of of the busy outdoor weekend in which the boys enjoyed band concerts and commando demonstration and proved their outdoor ability."
