Original envelope read, "U.C. and Stanford girl ushers. Democratic national convention 6-29-20." Negative shows five young women standing together with their arms linked. They are each wearing a medal of some sort on the lapels of their sweaters. They are all dressed in the lastest fashion. The 1920 Democratic National Convention was held in San Francisco June 28 at the urging of President Woodrow Wilson. The party pledged ratification of the Treaty of Versailles and supported the League of Nations. The nominee was Governor James M. Cox of Ohio and Franklin D. Roosevelt, then assistant secretary of the navy, for vice-president. The Republican nominee was Warren G. Harding, who went on to win the election.
