When Bruce bought the building it had been abandoned and all the plumbing and electricity had been torn out. Vandals had easy access to the building through broken windows. So when Bruce bought the building and began to restore the plumbing etc and eventually build living quarters there for us, he put plywood in the windows and bars on the outside. These downstairs windows remained boarded up when we lived there as far as I recall - though I also remember some of the windows had plastic stretched.
