Poster consists of red, gray and black print on brown paper. Image depicts diagrams of lances and whale hunting tools with images of gray whales and a whale hunting scene, all overlaid in layers. The main body of the text is a poem "For a Coming Extinction" about Gray Whales by W. S. Merwin. In the lower right corner is the logo and address of Bookshop Santa Cruz and "Bookshop Santa Cruz joins with everyone in celebrating the / migration of the California Gray Whale along our coast. May / their passage be safe. Winter/Spring 1974/1975.
