Opening session of the Republican National Convention in the Cow Palace in San Francisco. All of the assembled delegates are standing for the procession of American flags. Two enormous paintings of Eisenhower and Nixon adorn the rear wall of the arena. An even more enormous American flag stands between the two portraits. Each state delegation has a sign for its home state. The raised news platform in the middle of the main isle is full of cameras.
