Five rows of boys and girls are seated in a formal class portrait; the boys are in the bottom and back rows. Prescott School was at 9th and Campbell Sts. The inscription on the front of the photo reads "Shilling & Co. [studio] Happy School Days 997 Market St. San Francisco, Cal." [The children look anything but happy. JM 1/8/2001]
