Content description:
Harry Fonseca painted a series of "Stone Poems" inspired by the indigneous rock art of California, Utah, and the Southwest. This example, called "Migration #1" appears to depict the Sun King, a figure common to this series. Big horn sheep are also depicted. (This is a common pitographic element in the Southwest. Fonseca uses strong red oxide, black, and white paints on very large canvases to reflect the scale and impressiveness of real petroglyphs. PCK
