Tribune caption on the back, March 13, 1955, "At left are the first, second and third place winners in Oakland's third annual Children's Doll Show held yesterday in the Oakland Auditorium Arena. At the microphone is Grant Mainland, Oakland Recreation Department supervisor, who served as master of ceremonies. Some 7,000 persons viewed the event. A total of 750 dolls were entered in the competition. Another 600 were exhibited by the East Bay Unit of the United Federation of Doll Clubs. Forty-eight youngsters received the award certificates.
