Parade or celebration in Oakland's China Town c. 1910 in front of Chinese and Japanese Bazaar, Yon Yuen Sang & Company Inez Brooks-Myers, January 6, 2011: Although this photograph may be titled "Chinese Dragon Parade" the creature depicted is not a dragon, but is a lion dog. The lion dog might have danced at the opening of a new store; traditionally it would have been "fed" greens, such as cabbage. Look carefully in the photograph you can see a head of cabbage, near the head of the lion dog.
