The notation on the back of the photo reads "Contra Costa Pickup and Delivery Wagon / 1890 / Contra Costa Laundry Co., Kirkham and 13th St./ Driver: Elvin M. Loomer Sitting next to driver: Elvin's brother Frank." The image is of a horse in its traces, hooked up to the "Contra Costa Laundry Association delivery wagon. On the far side of the wagon a handfull of the laundry workers are standing. A man wearing a suit and a derby is standing near the front wheel of the wagon, next to the floor board. Everyone is looking at the camera.
