Handwritten on the back, "ground breaking ceremonies, Feb. 15, 1928". A crowd is standing and watching the speeches at the ground breaking ceremonies for the new Capwell's store. Most of the men and women are wearing hats. The stage can not be seen in this photo, only the crowd and automobiles behind the crowd on the street. There are flags waving above the crowd. There is one African-American man leaning his elbow on a fence at the edge of the crowd. There is a truck parked in the crowd in the upper right hand corner, the truck says, "J. Cattucci", there are people sitting on this truck. There are many people on the side walk behind the crowd watching from behind a fence. Across the street is a building with a row of storefront spaces. In the middle of the crowd, to the right, a man leans over to look through a large camera. The camera looks like it could be a movie camera.
