From back of Photo: "Fong in her office. Fong 2 col x (6") - 1st Sect w/story Jan 2, 1967" Caption cut from newspaper: " Jan 3. 1967 - Dr. March Fong in her new office - freshman lawmaker has big plans" Chinese American woman seated at desk. On the desk are two white piles - one with approximately 5 sheets of paper, top sheet unfolded and the other pile appears to be a book with papers inside and on top. There is a right arm from elbow to fingers clothed in a dark sleeve coming from the lower left corner to about the middle of the photo. Dr. Fong's chair is a high-backed leather(?) "Executive" chair with arms and she leans forward in it talking to the peson whose arm is shown. Her forearms are resting on the desk and in her hands she holds what appear to be white index cards. The fingers of her left hand are around the edges of the cards. She is wearing a suit of a textured fabric -- not black or navy or white-- with lapels and blouse of white with a flowered pattern. She has full bangs across her forehead with a teased/bouffant section on top. Her hair covers her ears. The pattern is probably in the same color as the suit. She is also wearing a single string of small pearls and on her right wrist is a bracelet of oval stones and what appears to be a watch on her left wrist. She looks intent/serious. The two walls of the ofice in the photo apper to be wood paneling with a vertical grain and knots.
