Content description:
The photo shows a counterdemonstration by people opposed to the aims of the Ad Hoc Committe to End Discrimination. The demonstrators have formed a picket line along the sidewalk in front of an unidentified barber shop and coffee bar (location unknown). The protesters are holding large signs with slogans. The signs read: "Ad Hoc Ad Nauseam" and "Ad Hoc and White Citizens Council Go Home". Two police officers are standing among the protesters. A number of spectators, including three or four children, are watching the protesters. In 1964 the Ad Hoc Committee to End Discrimination organized a number of demonstrations to protest racial discrimination in hiring practices, including protests against Sheraton-Palace, Auto Row, Mel's Drive-in, and the Oakland Tribune.
