Content description:
This is a small advertisement for the first woman's ballot-box in the world. Ballots were cast for the governor of California and the president of the United States. Text reads "The first woman's ballot-box in the world. Invented by a woman, Mrs. J.W. Stow, editor and publisher, and decorated by a woman, Mrs. J.H. Holt, artist. San Francisco 1882." This is an example of symbolic resistance by early California suffragettes who were not yet legally allowed to vote.
