Tribune caption, Oct. 18, 1967-- "Demonstrators sit in doorway to induction center. Doors were cleared by police as employes' bus arrived." Photo shows a group of young people sitting on the sidewalk in front of a building. Through the glass doors at the back of the crowd can be seen at least two police officers or security guards and several other men looking out at the demonstrators. Several of the protestors are holding signs. One says "Stop the Draft" and the other says "Hell No We Wont Go!" Another man, with his back to the camera, appears to be joining the group. Several of the protestors are making the "peace" sign. (D. Curry, 1/30/01) This photo was taken in front of the Oakland Induction Center during the Stop the Draft Week protests in October 1967. The man standing in front of the group of seated protesters, with his back to the camera and dressed entirely in denim, is David Harris (husband of Joan Baez and major figure in the anti-war protest movement). (D. Curry, 1/13/05) The man half kneeling on the ground looking up at the man whose back is to the camera has been identified as Bob Walter. He saw the photo in an advertisement for "What's Going On," recognized himself, and ordered a print.
