Caption on back of photo: "Final Freeway Link- This aerial photo, looking north toward Hayward, shows the last section of the Eastshore Freeway between Oakland and San Jose. The 9.9-mile stretch will be a divided, four-lane road with seven traffic interchanges and will cost some $6,900,000. The old road, Highway 17, is shown right." The photo was by Russ Reed and the pilot of the plane was Al Ackerman of Pacific State Aviation, Concord.
