The Monarchs, behind Lisa Leslie's 35 points and 12 rebounds, edged the Jackets 67-56 in last year's final. This year Morningside (Inglewood) is led by 6-foot-4 janet Davis. She led the Monarchs past Clovis West in the SoCal final with 20 points and 14 rebounds. Berkeley, which routed Archbishop Mitty of San Jose to take its second consecutive NorCal title, is led by senior All-America point guard Tanda Rucher (26.5 points per game)." **The Berkeley Yellowjackets won the game 76-50 becoming the State Champions.
