Photo of ground breaking for the Oakland Tribune building in downtown Oakland, 1905 This is the fifth home of the the Oakland newspaper from June 28, 1906 through March 25, 1918 when the Tribune completed construction of its six story building at the corner of 13th and Franklin. The fifth home was located at 412 8th Street at the corner of Franklin Street. After the Tribune moved in 1918 it was used as a hotel called The Golden West Hotel. In 1957 the building was demolished.
