June Swann, 10/04/2002: Ankle boot is constructed from plaited straw. Three offset layers of flat, plaited straw have been machine-stitched together, ¾" wide, then woven together and hand-stitched in places to keep the integrity of the fabric. Boot has 3" carved Louis heel, oval toe, and a ¼" platform. Marbled sole finish, cross-hatching, wheeling across waist. Paper label has been torn off of the sole. The date on this shoe should be later, perhaps 1937-39, not 1935 as originally catalogued. Shoe also shows the influence of Ferragamo.
