This is a favorite spot of mine. San Antonio I liked in those days with the river meandering through the middle of town. The area is now all done up with pavilions and shops and eating places and little boats. But at that time it was less tamed. After you left town you came down here by the railroad bridge. Kids would play in the river. People would drive their cars down onto the sandbank, right down to the river and wash their cars. It was just delightfully free and easy."
