The left margin of the typewritten notation attached to the back of the photo reads, partially, "Interested spectators had today crowded into the San [Francisco airport to view the newly opened administration building. [ ]taken from the air from a United Airlines Mainliner shows scattered [mod]ern luxury liners, the types of planes used during the [early y]ears of commercial aviation." The handwritten notation on the back of the photo reads "United Airlines photo Dedication (October 24, 1937) Administration building." The rectangular administration building is at center, with the control tower rising above it. A building at lower right has San Francisco Airport painted on its roof. At right center three planes are parked on an apron: a biplane and two C-47's. The shadow of another plane is cast on the runway at upper center.
