The Tribune photo, dated February 20 1935, has the following caption on the back: "These [3] scenes [see also 2001.1.63 and.64] at the Alameda Airport, where construction work is being pushed to prepare for the arrival of the first of the fleet of seaplanes that will inuagurate California-Hawaii-China air service: ".....raising hangar to make room for huge planes." In this scene, the Alameda Airport hangar has been raised up on blocks to accomodate to the height required for seaplanes to be serviced. The name Curtiss Wright is painted over the hangar's huge doorway.
