In the center of the frame is a two wheeled wagon with metal containers of some sort. He wears overalls and a miner's helmet. To the right of the frame a number of men sit on a pile of lumber. This photograph appeared in the January 11, 1931 issue of the Oakland Tribune with the caption "A scene at the top of the MItchell ravine shaft from which the tunnel branches at a depth of 819 feet, showing rescue workers laoding provisions aboard the skip on which they were carried to workmen in the earth below."
