This was taken near Weaverville at the time I did the Historic Buildings survey. I saw this wonderful old deserted adobe and walked in to see whether there was anything worth photographing. I heard this strange noise in the gloom and there was this cow peacefully reclining. (Roger Sturtevant interview with Joyce Minnick, 1977)
