The notation on the back of the photo reads "Drill rig boring test holes." The truck mounted drill rig is parked near the edge of the landslide on I-80 near Pinole. It is on blocks and actively boring holes through the colalpsed southbound roadway. Extra drills are on the ground near the truck's right rear wheel. Earth movers are removing earth from the east side of the roadway to prepare it for the detour.
