The photos show a political protest by members of the Ad Hoc Committee to End Discrimination. They are protesting discriminatory hiring practices by the Oakland Tribune. The photos show protesters picketing in front of the Oakland Tribune building, and participating in a sit-in which blocks the gate to the Tribune loading dock. Many of the picketers carry large signs with protest slogans. Some of the photos show police officers arresting participants of the sit-in. Five "X"s are written in blue pencil on the back of the contact sheet.
