The Tribune photo, dated July 26, 1982 , has the following caption on the back: "STUNT FLIERS STAR IN SHOW. Spectators watch as a plane snakes its way across the sky at the 1982 Great Livermore Air Show held Sunday at the Livermore Municipal Airport. The show included stunt flying, parachute jumping, and a hot air balloon race, as well as a display of exotic aircraft such as World Warr II-era fighters and bombers and antique and home-built planes." The handwritten notation on the back identifies the pilot of the biplane shown in this photo as Bob Oliver in his Pitts S-14. The biplane appears to be in a dive, with smoke spewing out from the fuselage to enable spectators on the ground to see better.
