(Typed at foot of page) "SUBDIVISIONS, "THEN AND NOW." Fernside in 1925. This photograph was taken on December 20th, 1925." (G. Weininger, 6/2002): A.A. Cohen had, in 1863, established the first railroad and ferry system in Alameda County; it transported passengers from a depot in the city of Alameda to San Francisco. In 1865 he became chief attorney for the Central Pacific Railroad, which completed the western portion of the Transcontinental Railraod and landed passengers at Coehn's depot.
