From back of photograph: In red pencil, "U.S. Naval Supply Depot" "Middle Harbor #1321" Horizontally across back of photograph in red pencil are two arrows drawn pointing to both edges of the photograph with "5 3/4 in." written in the middle. Photograph is date stamped April 10, 1940. Also stamped on back, "Used in 1940 Year Book, Pg. 118." An additional stamp on the back of the photograph is a diamond outline with "M.L. Cohen Co., General Photographers. 357 12th Street, Oakland, CA; Glen 9717." In the photograph, a man stands on a dock between three large metal pipes. The man is bent over welding the top of the pipe to his left. He wears a welder's mask and suspenders. There are two tanks standing on the dock near the man, secured to the dock by ropes. Also a bucket. In the foreground to the far right of the photograph, are a pair of rubber boots. Behing the man is water and in the distance is a group of men in standing in working on the frame of a dock. There is a boat among them. To the left of the photograph in the distance are two smokestacks. There is a thin dark line of land in the far distance.
