Ambrotype framed in brass, embedded in a leather carrying case with dark red velvet lining.
Content description:
This tableau depicts two miners, on mules, being outfitted for their journey into the High Sierra. Another man, to the right, poses with paper and pencil in hand, as if tallying up the costs of the miners' supplies. To his left, a blacksmith poses holding a shoeing hammer and nails, while two small Native American Boys attend to he mules. The miners both carry large pistols holstered to their belts.
