They are protesting discriminatory hiring practices by the Oakland Tribune. Photos show demonstrators picketing in front of the Oakland Tribune building. Many of the protesters are carrying large signs with protest slogans. Some of the photos show the protesters singing or shouting(?) as they march. Each photo has been assigned a number (#1 through #12) which has been written on the back of the contact sheet in blue ink. Some of the demonstrators pictured in the photos have been identified. Their names are written on the back of the sheet with the photo number. Persons identified are: #4 Tom Richards, #3 Jim Sheahan, #2 Heather Evans, #1 Eugene Alexander, # 7 Conn Halinhan, #6 John Smith, #5 Kayo Halinhan, #10 Johnny Romero, and #9 Harold Supriano. Numbers 11 and 12 are listed as: "No Name, Refused" and number 8 is listed as: "Mr X (he says)".
