Content description:
Photo shows Fillmore Street in S.F. right after the 1906 earthquake. Way down the street is smoke billowing from the fires that consumed the city. Brick and other rubble is lying in the street. One building on the left side, Bay City Iron Works, the roof is caved in and half of the second floor walls are gone. People are walking on the sidewalks and in the streets and several horse and buggy's are also trying to get down the street. On the corner is a business called "The Rivet." Written at the bottom left corner "...Rogers 1012 Fillmore St. SF." Tribune caption on the back, April 15, 1956-- "This is a scene near the waterfront, another fine photo by The Tribune's E.A. (Doc) Rogers." Photo was probably made from the original glass negative which is missing from the Tribune collection.
