Physical description:
An aerial view, looking down the line of five hangars, with a space for another one, between the 2nd and 5th. The administration building is closer to the camera than the first hangar. Small single engine airplanes are loosely lined up on the far side of the hangars, and one larger single engine airplane is at the far end of that line. In between the highway fronting the hangars and the hangars themselves, hundreds of autos are parked for an unknown event. Thes struts of the airplane photographing the airport are caught in the photo at the bottom left corner.

Tomajczyk contacted the museum via e-mail with the following note: "I'd like to bring to the Museum's attention some information concerning two images posted on its online collection: Image 2001.1.17 URL: http://collections.museumca.org/?q=collection-item/2001117 I suspect this photo is from January 1935 when Amelia Earhart arrived at Oakland, completing the first solo flight from Hawaii to the US. That would certainly account for the gazillion vehicles parked at the airport, as well as a press plane (rented by the Oakland Tribune) being airborne to photograph her arrival." [NPK]
