Pale yellow hanbok top with red cuffs and ribbon; see 2021.5.5B for skirt. Part of a gift of 4 hanbok, from donor Jung Hoeck, which were made in South Korea and worn by donor to events in Jamaica, Sweden, England and Oakland. According to a brief biography provided by Jenny Josephian, a family friend of the donor, Jung Hoeck, was born Jung Soon Hyun on August 20, 1928 in Seoul, Korea. Her late husband, Olaf Hoeck, was a Danish architect whose work took them around the world. Their daughter Hanne was born in 1959 while they were living in Jamaica. In 1964 Olaf was hired by Kaiser Engineering, which led the family to settle in Oakland in 1971.
