Original envelope read, "Democratic National Convention- 1920." Negative shows a woman sitting on a piano bench in front of a piano. She is wearing a long coat belted at the waist and a fur stoll around her shoulders. She is also wearing a hat. There is an arm chair next to the piano and what appears to be a fireplace in the background. The faint image of a woman is visible next to the arm chair, but she is not entirely there. The woman is either a delegate to the convention or the wife of a delegate. The 1920 Democratic National Convention was held in San Francisco June 28 at the urging of President Woodrow Wilson. The party pledged ratification of the Treaty of Versailles and supported the League of Nations. The nominee was Governor James M. Cox of Ohio and Franklin D. Roosevelt, then assistant secretary of the navy, for vice-president. The Republican nominee was Warren G. Harding, who went on to win the election.
