Original 1969 caption reads: "Freeways became parking lots as tens of thousands of festival-goers had to leave their cars miles away." Both freeways are completely packed with stopped cars, and a corridor of people walks between the rows of abandoned vehicles. The line of cars stretches to the horizon. This photograph was republished in the December 6, 1984, Oakland Tribune, the day of the 25th anniversary of the Altamont Festival.
