This is a photo of a pencil drawing. The notatio on the back reads "Oakland, Calif in the seventies." There is also the date, Feb 20, 1934, stamped on the back, but it probably pertains to the date the photo was made. This a view of the neighborhhod where San Pablo Ave and Broadway intersect, and it is taken from a slight elevation. The dominant feature of the left lower quartwer is an elegant triangular [flatiron] three-story building with bay windows, a cupola, and a covered porch at ground level. On the far side of the building there is a church with a tall steeple. There is another triangular building at right center which at one point contained at least one store [see source below]. On the far side of that building there is a large blocky building with tower that may have been a hotel. Horses and carriages are moving up and down San Pablo Ave, and a horse-drawn streetcar is moving toward the left. Trees line both sides of the avenue.
