The Tribune clipping attached to the back of the photo reads "The new Grove-Shafter and MacArthur Freeway interchange looks awfully complex and confusing (as well as artistic) from the air, but it really is no problem to negotiate on the ground. Just follow the signs and you should end up where you want to go. The interchange, located just west of Telegrph Avenue, was opened last month. Its ramps provide downtown Oakland with more convenient access to the MacArthur Freeway." Automobiles are moving on the freeways.
