I believe I didn't take this for a job assignment but just because I loved the beauty of the coast down by Big Sur, and Highway 1 was just being built at this time. These were the first indications of the highway along the coast. Strangely enough the highway didn't ruin the beauty of the coast, I don't think, but it gave it a kind of focal point to see the road winding around.
