Daughter of Mrs. Peralta, born in Oakland in 1856. Note: Case is broken into two pieces (1/3/91). Daguerrotype. Description: Daguerrotype, of a young woman who was a descendant of the Peralta family of the East Bay. She was the daughter of a Mrs.________ who was born a Peralta. Condition fair. History: young woman was born in Oakland in 1856. The paper strip with handwriting identifying photo has been in case for many years and long before it came into donor's possession. The daguerrotype was given to donor by a relative. The donor's grandmother on his father's side was Mary Arellano from Spain. Donor has been in the Oakland Police Dept. for 25 years; he retired in 1964. He used to play the organ for annual Policeman's Ball at Oakland Aud. He also gave driver training classes to high school students in Oakland.
