Mario Savio announces a settlement of the three-day-long campus protests. Goines: "October 2, 1964: A crowd of 7,000 occupies the area between Sproul Hall and the Student Union. Some 500 police arrive by 5:30 pm. Demonstration spokesmen meet with Kerr and Strong and sign an agreement, the `pact of October 2,' ending the demonstration at 7:30 pm.
