All are also wearing hats of some kind. The man on the far left is a large man wearing a cap, with a cigar in his mouth and holding a rolled up paper in his hands. The men may be delegates to the convention. The 1920 Democratic National Convention was held in San Francisco June 28 at the urging of President Woodrow Wilson. The party pledged ratification of the Treaty of Versailles and supported the League of Nations. The nominee was Governor James M. Cox of Ohio and Franklin D. Roosevelt, then assistant secretary of the navy, for vice-president. The Republican nominee was Warren G. Harding, who went on to win the election.
