Poster printed with yellow, brown, green, and orange ink on white paper.
Content description:
A graphic of an agricultural lettuce field fills the upper two-thirds of the page. The top half of a circular yellow sun is visible just over the field at upper right in an orange sky. The sun is printed with a United Farm Workers eagle symbol and the text, "Se - Se - Puede ~ It - Can - Be - Done" in an arch along the top. Several figures in yellow outfits work among the rows of lettuce throughout the center of the page. A group portrait of men, women, and children in yellow and white outfits fills the bottom third of the page above the text "Boycott Red Coach Lettuce." [The CWGC was an important producer of political poster art during the 1970s, and used their collective as a testbed for exploring new ways of making peoples' art. A documentary film captured the process of making this poster, during which they brought in farmworker women as part of the design process to better understand their conditions and make an effective agitational product. Another controversial topic was whether or not to highlight Cesar Chavez, shown here in the center of the crowd. -LMC]
