Content description:
Bromoil printing kit used by Hugo P. Rudinger who invented the process. The kit includes 18 loss brushes of varying sizes, ten wooden sticks, two cardboard boxes one with the label "James A. Sinclair & Co Ltd. 54 Haymarket , London SW and No. Dr V. G. Longstaff, inside the box are three tubes of paint and 6 paper tubes. Inside the second cardboard box which is labeled "Messn Sinclair H. is 15 plastic handled small brushes, and one loose pencil is in the large box. (LDion 5/98) A: Largest brush (perhaps a "stagfoot brush" for "stippling"), natural colored wood handle with short, thick bristles attached with a plastic-like material. B: Mid-sized brush, natural colored wood handle, bristles are wrapped in white paper and a cotton string is attached around the end of the handle. C: Mid-sized brush, natural colored wood handle, bristles are wrapped in brown paper and a brown, rubber-like tube encircles the end of the brush handle. D: Small brush with light colored wooden handle, bristles are wrapped with a thin sheet of gray metal. E-H: Four brushes: 1 large (E), 1 medium with cotton string attached to the end of handle (F) and 2 (G and H) small sizes with cotton string attached to the end of both handles. All have light colored wooden handles and the bristles are all wrapped in the same color blue paper. I and J: Two small brushes with blond wood handles and cotton string attached to the end of the handles. The bristles are wrapped in natural colored wax paper.I has "10" and J has "8" engraved into the handle K-O: Five wooden brush handles with shiny red finish. K has a plastic-like sheath and a small amount of short, brown bristles. L,M.N and O do not have any bristles. P: Five wooden brush handles that are taped together. The handles are thin, with yellow-colored wood and metal attachments for bristles. The metal attachments are missing bristles. Q,R,S,T: Four small, redwood colored, wooden brush handles. U and V: Two thin, redwood colored, wooden brush handles. U is longer and has a plastic-like sheath with thin wire attachments and a small amount of short, thick bristles. V is shorter with a plastic-like sheath and a small amount of short, thick bristles. W, X and Y: Three small, thin, black-colored wooden brush handles. Z: Small, brown cardboard box with "Messn Sinclair H" handwritten in black ink on lid. AA-II: Nine very small brush tips with plastic-like sheathes and short, thick bristles. JJ: Lavender colored, cardboard box with a black and white printed label on the top "James A. Sinclair & Co Ltd. 54 Haymarket. London. S.W.". Underneath label is "Dr. V. G. Longstaff" handwritten in black ink. KK-QQ: Seven cardboard tubes with with pointed ends (maybe "stumps"). RR: Small silver tube with black and white label. On label is printed: "Sinclair's Oil Pigment Encre Taille Douce, For ease in Pigmenting use Sinclair Bromoil Bleacher, Sinclair's Brushes are the best for Oil or Bromoil., James A. Sinclair & Co., Ltd.,9-10 Charing Cross, London, S.W.I, Made in England." SS: Small silver tube with black and white label. On label is printed: "Sinclair's Oil Pigment Black, For ease in Pigmenting use Sinclair Bromoil Bleacher, Sinclair's Brushes are the best for Oil or Bromoil., James A. Sinclair & Co.,Ltd., 3 Whitehall, London, S.W.I, Made in England." TT: Small silver tube with black and white label. On label is printed: Sinclair's Oil Pigment Brown Black, For thinning purposes the Sinclair's Oil and Bromoil Medium is recommended., James A. Sinclair & Co., 54 Haymarket, London. S.W." UU-AAA: Seven mid-sized brush tips with plastic-like sheaths, thin wire attachments and short, thick bristles.
