The Tribune photo, dated March 24, 1992, has the following inscription on the front: "Empty lot that used to be the Del Monte Factory [sic] at 29th Ave. Oakland." The empty lot (with a huge puddle in the foreground) described above occupies the lower 3/4ths of the photo. At left are a few light industrial buildings, dominated by a larger five-story square concrete building. BART tracks are in the background, and the Montgomery Ward warehouse building is at right rear.
