Costume sketch by Edith Head of a dress for Joanne Gilbert from "Red Garter," (Paramount 1954. It is an ink gouache on artist's illustration paper, featuring Joanne Gilbert as "Sheila Winthrop" wearing a black dress with ruffles at the sleeves. There are three sketches of the dress, front, back and underside. A strip of black, yellow, white, red and pink striped fabric is stapled to the upper left hand side of the sketch. The back side of the sketch has stamps: production approval stamps, accessories, garment and production relating to the dress. In the lower left hand corner is a circular pressed stamp with "Strathmore Use Either Side" on it. "Red Garters" (Paramount, 1954) was a Technicolor musical western spoof released in 1954. It starred Rosemary Clooney, Jack Carson, Guy Mitchell, Gene Barry and Buddy Ebson. Joanne Gilbert played the supporting role of Sheila Winthrop.
